Check your IPv4 adress on both computers. If they are different try to make a static IP adress and make the IP adresses the same. If they are the same try to change the last digit and see if that will work also. There are tutorials on youtube of how to do it. #1. Pretty sure you can only earn XP playing Squads mode online. You can play Warganes solo or with a party using the "Play Now" option (the rest of your team will be populated with your bot squad mates), but it's still online. You cannot earn XP playing locally where all the customization options are unlocked. It's not new, but happened to me about 4-5 times today alone in Extinction Multiplayer.
