Half-Life: Alyx's Compatible VR Headsets Below is a breakdown of each VR headset that supports Half-Life: Alyx, via The Verge . Keep in mind that these headsets will only support the game if the PCs they're paired with meet the aforementioned minimum system requirements. All 3 of your issues don't exist in high end headsets like Valve Index. It's a shame you gave up in VR without actually trying what VR can be. Playing Half-Life Alyx on a Valve Index can look like real life at times. It's photorealistic and as sharp as your real eye sight.
That said, Half-Life: Alex will be free for anyone who owns a Valve Index, making it the best option out of the supported VR headsets. Meanwhile, Half-Life: Alyx is also supported on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality. Other headsets like the Oculus Quest may also be supported, though there's been no explicit confirmation.
Powered by Steam VR on Valve’s Source 2 engine, Alyx is set for release in March 2020 and will be compatible with multiple PC -based VR headsets, Valve announced on Thursday. The game, which Valve insists is not a spin-off but “the next part” of the story, can be pre-purchased for $59.99 and is free for owners of the Valve Index VR
Others were made to be flat-screen games, but were created with VR in mind as they were built. These games should be pretty good in both modes -- but frankly, I can't remember any. VR-only games won't work with a flat screen, period - they were made to be VR only. Beat Saber and Half-Life Alyx fall under these categories.
the index has zero battery life though and costs over 3 times more even if you bought a elite strap for the quest 2. And correct me if I'm wrong here. but Valve has killed support for every hardware they worked on either in house or with partners. steam link, steam controller, steam machines, HTC VIVE partnership IIRC.
With the streaming app installed and opened, enter your Oculus username into the Streamer app’s menu on your PC. Then, launch Virtual Desktop on your Oculus Quest and enter SteamVR to play Half
I need a refresher on how to launch a non-OR game. I have Steam VR installed. On the OR, I have "unknown sources" enabled, and have it all calibrated. Just want to know if you enable Steam VR, and then launch Alyx (game) in Steam, will you see a prompt in the OR library of any kind, or if you simply start Alyx, will the OR headset start
Now to start it off I use oculus quest because I dont have $1000+ laying around for a good pc to handle vr games so take everything with a grain of salt (because I am salty tbh).
Hello everyone, I'm debating getting an Oculus Quest 2. I'm not a tech person though and have a couple questions. The VR games on Steam, at least the ones I've checked out in the store, never list Quest 2 as a supported headset. I've read how, I think, Quest 2 has it's own store/library of games that it's capable of playing while wireless, but that you can use the link cable to play more
